'Arts for Enlightenment' silent auction/fundraiser
to benefit Habitat for Humanity

The Oregon Society of Artists will host 'Arts for Enlightenment ', a silent auction to benefit the Habitat for Humanity, Portland/Metro East. This exhibition and education event is a collaboration of OSA, Habitat for Humanity and regional artists united in a common fundraising cause.

Featured Artists are sculptor Martin Conley, glass artist and jeweller Cat Hargis, painter Ed Labadie & found object sculptor Bonnie Meltzer. In addition to seeing a body of each of these artists works they will give a lecture demo during the weekend. See the schedule below.

Event coordinator, Ed Labadie states, “Art lovers and collectors may bid on scores of fine works from a variety of talented regional artists working in a broad range of styles and materials, as well as attend free artist demonstrations. In addition, speakers will provide talks on topics relevant to home improvements and breakthrough ‘green’ building technologies.”
 
The exhibition and bidding opens Friday, December 2, 5 to 7 pm, and continues on Saturday and Sunday, 11 am to 4 pm. All events are free to the public:
 
Saturday:
12 noon: Cat Hargis, Artist Demo, ‘Bejeweled Glass’
1 pm: Joe Connell, Habitat speaker, ‘ReStore and Reuse’
2 pm: Andrew Shepard, Earth Advantage Institute speaker, ‘Green Building: Not just a Niche for the Rich’
3 pm: Shannon Tennant, Habitat speaker, ‘A World of Hope: It Starts at Home’
 
Sunday:
12 noon: Martin Conley,  Artist Demo, ‘The Potential of Pumice’
1 pm: Bonnie Meltzer, Artist Demo ‘Putting it All Together - Mind and Materials’
2 pm: Ed Labadie, Artist Demo, ‘Creating from Chaos’
3 pm: ‘Dueling Divas’, a live painting event with a surprise comic twist;
            followed by live auction to benefit Habitat for Humanity.
 
Silent Bidding Closes Sunday, 4 pm.
